Or would do you prefer a vegan-friendly winter jacket?
Thick and fluffy down jackets are the Nordic winter saviors. Fortunately, more attention has been paid to ethical down production and other responsible, vegan-free clothing alternatives are also available.
RSD and TDS down standards ensure that down in garments come from a responsible source that respects animal welfare and can be transparently traced. The Responsible Down Standard RSD or Traceable Down Standard TDS are independent, voluntary global standards. The standards recognize and reward the best practices in animal welfare. Down is traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure that the birds that supply it are protected by the strongest animal welfare and consumer assurance standards. These include robust requirements in all areas of the birds’ lives, and especially protects against force-feeding and live-plucking.

Patagonia began working in 2007 to trace their own supply chain in the interest of sound animal welfare. Since fall 2014, all of the virgin down they use to insulate their products has met their own Patagonia Traceable Down Standard.
From 2016, Patagonia also switched to using recycled down in their products.Watch the video above for more of Patagonia's eco-friendly way to produce down products.

Wool outperforms any other fabrics when it comes to moisture-wicking, warmth and odor-fighting capabilities. Merino wool is known for its quality, softness and ability to regulate body temperature even during high-intensity activity. Wool fibers have scales that are removed to make the fiber soft and comfortable using a unique process that is chlorine-free. Weekendbee offers only 100 % mulesing-free merino wool products.
Merino is naturally anti-bacterial and it doesn’t stink like synthetic fibers, so you don’t have to wash the shirt so often – drying and airing it out is usually enough.
So why should we pay attention that our favorite merino wool sportswear is mulesing-free?
Weekendbee got featured in Good News From Finland site:
"The aim of Weekendbee is to inspire and encourage people both to go outdoors and to reconsider what and how they consume.
In its first year, Weekendbee has been growing steadily. The site exists in English and Finnish, and so far international growth has happened organically. First, the plan is to learn a few lessons at home, and then put a full focus on foreign markets. The countries to be targeted will be chosen based on their interest and maturity in both sustainability and outdoors."
