Didrikson's sustainability

We expect the brands we choose in our collection to meet our sustainability criteria. Our criteria consist of actions that take the environment, social conditions and climate into consideration. Here’s how Didriksons meets our criteria:

Environment:

Brand uses environmentally preferred raw materials for more than 50% of its volume.

  • Didriksons is using environmentally preferred raw materials for more than 50% of its product volume. They employ solution dye techniques for 41% of their fabrics, significantly reducing water and energy use. The brand also incorporates recycled polyester and polyamide, making up 7% of their materials, and uses recycled padding in 92% of all padded products. Additionally, Didriksons utilizes GOTS-certified cotton and Sorona, a partly bio-based polyester, to further minimize their environmental impact.

      Brand encourages the longevity of products by offering a lifetime guarantee, repair services or supporting the return or re-use of garments

      • Didriksons takes responsibility for the entire lifecycle of its products, from production to recycling. They design and produce durable clothing that stands the test of time, and support product longevity by offering repair kits and innovative features like the Extend Size function in their kids’ clothing. Once garments reach the end of their life, Didriksons aims to recycle them into new materials, further supporting a circular approach to fashion and reducing waste.

      Brand supports environmental NGOs or other organizations to promote environmental sustainability

      • Didriksons actively supports environmental sustainability by partnering with  World Ocean Day "Sportfiskarna," an organization focused on promoting healthy waters. 

      Didriksons doesn’t report what percentage of its consumer packaging materials are renewable or made from recycled materials, and the brand doesn't implement concrete policies which have reduced the environmental impact of their packaging materials. But they do measure renewable and recycled materials, but have not yet set a policy for improvement. 

       

        Social conditions:

          Brand is following buying practices that enable living wages and good labour conditions, such as long-term relations with factories, and concentrating production at a limited number of factories

They conduct their own audits and ensure that most suppliers are third-party audited, maintaining high standards in their operations. While they strive for transparency, the origin of materials, design, and manufacturing details are not yet fully shared. The brand is working towards openly listing their direct suppliers and publicly committing to living wage benchmarks for different regions or factories. These efforts demonstrate Didriksons' ongoing commitment to enhancing their social and environmental responsibility.

            Climate:

            • Didriksons ensures that at least 50% of their electricity comes from renewable sources, with 83% of their energy derived from renewables such as wind and solar. This commitment underscores their dedication to reducing their environmental impact and supporting sustainable energy practices.

            Founded in 1913 in Grundsund, Sweden, Didriksons started as a small family business creating durable oil garments for local fishermen. Over the years, the brand has grown significantly, combining its rich heritage with modern technology to produce high-quality outdoor wear designed to withstand the toughest conditions.

            Today, Didriksons is committed to sustainability and ethical practices. They focus on designing long-lasting products using recycled and eco-friendly materials, such as solution-dyed fabrics and recycled padding. Their responsible manufacturing practices extend to eliminating harmful chemicals and ensuring fair labor conditions.

            • STICA Didriksons are working together with The Scandinavian Textile Initiative for Climate Action (STICA) to reduce the impact of the textile industry on global
            • Kemikaliegruppen Didriksons are part of Kemikaliegruppen (The Chemicals Group), which exists to disseminate the latest information on chemical and environment-related issues to its member companies.
            • Didriksons is a member of the following organisations focusing on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for textiles: Re_Fashion and Stichting UPV Textiel. The aim of these organisations is to upscale the circularity of post-consumer textile waste.
