Hanwag has produced shoes over hundred years, and since the beginning they have not been interested in short-term profit maximisation, but instead in uniting business with environmental and social practices.
All Hanwag's shoes and are made in Europe, the leather they use is by-product of food production and certified by Leather Working Group (LWG). To ensure maximum sustainability, the supply chain for virtually all Hanwag raw materials is located within the European Union. This enables shorter transport routes and reduces corresponding CO2 emissions.
Hanwag is a member of the Fair Labor Association (FLA), an NGO that aims to improve worker rights and working conditions worldwide. In doing so they have committed to the implementation of the FLA guidelines, and which are monitored throughout the entire supply chain.
