About Girlfriend Collective
"A bunch of old water bottles has never looked so good!"
Girlfriend Collective believes in ethical manufacturing and recycled materials. In addition, the brand believes that health and wellness come in many shapes and sizes, and that representation matters. The colorful designed tops and leggings are made to fit all body types.
The brand was founded in 2016 by a couple, Ellie and Quang Dinh. Transparency was their first goal when starting Girlfriend Collective and it is still one of the most important values for them. <
Old water bottles and fishing nets are the main raw materials for production. Recycled polyester comes from Taiwan which is nowadays the leader in recycling. Leggings are made from 25 recycled post-consumer water bottles. The Girlfriend Collective processing center is owned by a Taiwanese family and is certified by the Taiwanese government. Factories have an SA8000 certificate which guarantees that employees are paid a fair wage and treated with respect. Girlfriend is actively looking for ways to help the planet and its inhabitants.
Girlfriend Collective's main raw material is ocean plastic waste, i.e. plastic bottles and fishing nets. One pair of leggings, for example, is made from 11 plastic bottles. Girlfriend Collective's clothes are OEKO certified and their garments are dyed in a non-toxic way that respects the environment. The consumer packaging used by Girlfriend is also responsibly chosen and 100% recycled and recyclable.
Girlfriend Collective manufactures its textiles in a facility in Taiwan that specialises in the production of eco-friendly textiles. Cutting and sewing is done in carefully selected factories and their core factory is located in Hanoi, Vietnam. The factory is SA8000 certified, which guarantees their workers fair wages, health and safety conditions and many other important things. SA8000 factories are audited on a regular basis and Girlfriend Collective also visits their certified factory regularly.
For Girlfriend Collective, environmental well-being is also very important. They do important work by using ocean plastic waste as the raw material for their clothing, which allows these bottles to be recycled from the seas. Girlfriend also confirms that at least 50% of the energy they use comes from renewable sources.

love the material and style.
makes me feel good
The fabric and fit feel good when worn. It's a bit of a chore, to put on and take off though. Maybe because my top and bottom are such different sizes. Going to the bathroom is a hassle with this on.
