To empower and build resilience for communities living close to nature
Why?
Environmental defenders all over the world are fighting to protect human rights relating to the environment, including water, air, land, flora and fauna.
Vision & Purpose
This cause supports organizations working with a broad spectrum of approaches including both development of new technologies and looking at traditional and well-adapted methods. We recognize that Indigenous knowledge plays an important part in this and by learning from and adapting traditional systems we can enable responsible conservation and sustainable use of natural resources. With a holistic perspective and a bottom up approach we believe that true change can be achieved
The work being done:
To protect the largest ecosystem on Earth
Why?
The oceans provide us with half of the oxygen we breathe and regulate our climate. Marine ecosystems provide diverse habitats for numerous species that we rely on for food and livelihoods.
Vision & purpose
This cause contains projects that work hard to address the issues leading to the destruction of marine ecosystems, enabling proactive policy changes and successful conservation and restoration efforts.
The work being done:
To help landscapes and their ecosystems heal and stay resilient
Why?
We need to protect and restore our forests and open landscapes on a larger scale than ever before - without them, ecosystems will collapse with severe consequences to all life on this planet.
Vision & purpose
This cause supports innovative approaches to landscape conservation. A healthy landscape means a network of resilient and thriving terrestrial ecosystems including all forms of life. It includes everything from rain forests and woodlands to wetlands, grasslands, and the glaciers in the mountains.
The work being done:
To reverse the trend of biodiversity loss
Why?
Healthy ecosystems provide us with a wealth of natural resources, support our food systems, water cycles, and many other ecosystem services.
Vision & purpose
This cause supports a wide range of urgent actions needed to restore habitats, protect and prevent the extinction of threatened species. We also believe that research and new technology can greatly assist in addressing the biodiversity crisis.
